Well there are somethings which I thought I’d never see. Now as I’ve seen it all(ok, almost all!)

The setting: Yesterday night/today early morning
The time: 2:00 AM
The Place: Cristal Guest House, Chennai, the guest house where I stay.

I was sleeping blissfully, having a good night’s sleep. Then all of a sudden, I hear a faint buzz. Thought that was just me dreaming. Then, BUZZ again. And then the door starts banging. I was half awake now, cursing the person who might be buzzing the room at this unearthly hour. I open the door, only for finds Cops staring at me :!: At this moment, I was still in a very dazed state, and then seeing cops banging the doors of other rooms I realize that this is no dream!
Here’s the talk I had with the Cop:

Cop: How many people in room?
Me: 2
Cop: Let me see (and then he peeks in)
Cop: What you doing here?
Me: Working in Chennai
Cop: Show id card
Me: Here(and shows him my 3i Infotech ID Card)
Cop: Ok oK
Me(tell my Roomie): Arre Adi, show him your id na(my roomie was too sleepy and had no idea what’s happening)
Cop: It’s ok
Then the Cop shifts his focus to other room
Me: Can we please go back to sleep now??
Cop: OK OK

I was like whaa…. with this whole incident!

So what was teh reason for this radi?

Few people had even suggested reasons: Drugs, porn, while my assumption was that it was because of hookers. Well I got the update from the Guest House manager, and nope. It wasn’t for drugs. Not for porn. Not for hookers. Not for piracy either.
The reason? THIS.
Apparently there was a tipoff that Mr. Modi would be killed and that his assassins were already in Chennai. Hence the “tight” security. So by launching raids at 2:00 AM at all possible guest houses, just few hours before Mr. Modi would land in Chennai, they could detect and find the assassins?

So, here’s 50 paise to the extremely “tight” and efficient security system of cops.

Would you pay someone any amount of money as breakage charges when you haven’t really broken anything ?

If you’re not filthy rich, or enjoying “apne bade baap ka kaala paisa“, you’d have answered that question as a firm “NO!“. Well, imagine paying Rs. 600 as breakage fees.

Yes, that’s the amount my college charges as Breakage fees per student. Our department itself has 128 students. That gives the college a collection of over Rs. 76,000. Our college has about 10 different streams and although I’m not too sure how much the charge would be, it would be about the same.

What’s worse is, we have no other option but to pay these charges as non-payment of the same and they withhold our result. And anyone can guess what the consequences for that can be.Man, my college is such as ASS indeed.

So here’s 50 paise to my college to add to their treasuries. Sorry, but that’s what they deserve to get.

Well, how many of ya’ll wish to kill all Indian politicians ?

I know, I know. Everyone does. Well, I’m here to give you two more reasons to do that.

1) Apparently, Mumbai’s corporators are requesting the commissioner to play our Indian National Anthem in the house, instead of making them sing it. Why ? Because, either they don’t know the words and find it hard to sing it or they can’t be bothered to sing it.
2) Mayawati and her government are gonna erect 40 statues of her at prominent locations in the city. Talk about saving money !

Here’s the full story, taken from Mumbai Mirror about the corporators..

Our corporators can’t be bothered singing the nation anthem. Either that, or they do not know how to sing it.

On Mondaya meeting of group leaders of all political parties unanimously sent a proposal to commissioner Jayraj Phatak asking for an audio version to be played each time the house convenes, and which will drown their own poorly rendered Jana Gana Mana.

The proposal was first submitted by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator Mangesh Bansod to mayor Shubha Raul and his party’s group leader Niyaz Vanu recently. Placed before all group leaders by Vanu at their meeting yesterday, the proposal said: “Many a time (sic) many words of the anthem sung in the Corporation Hall are not pronounced correctly. I therefore suggest that an audio cassette be played and the councillors and officials present thereat be directed to sing along with the recorded anthem in chorus.”

The group leaders of the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP combine, the NCP, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and the Samajwadi Party approved the proposal after a brief discussion. Nobody objected to the idea, thus acknowledging that corporators had difficulty singing Jana Gana Mana in the right way.

BJP group leader Bhalchandra Shirshat, who confirmed the proposal had been passed, said, “We have sanctioned the proposal in principle and sent it to the civic chief for his remarks. After that, it will be implemented.”

MNS group leader Rajendra Lad said: “It is true that corporators cannot sing the anthem properly, so we cleared the proposal.”

Explaining why he had mooted the idea in the first place, Bansod said: “This is my first term as a corporator. Whenever I have attended civic meetings, I have been shocked to see that most corporators can’t sing Jana Gana Mana correctly. It’s an insult to the anthem. So why not play a recorded version? There are so many good audio cassettes available.”

Civic chief Phatak said he could not comment on the matter as the proposal had not reached him yet.

:-< Why don’t they all die.

So here’s 50 paise to all the corporators to learn the National Anthem and another 50 paise to mayawati for her erections (!!)

So, here we have India’s most “sensational” ( a channel who tries to create sensations from petty issues ) news channel, broadcasting something really shocking, if tis video is to be believed.

The video shows a certain suspect in the State of Uttar Pradesh, who is injured and is trying to surrender with his hands up in the air. You can hear him shout “I want to surrender, I wish to surrender

At this, you hear some kind of commotion among to police personnel, with someone clearly saying “Do we have to shoot/kill him”, someone else saying “Lets kill/shoot him” while someone says, “Lets kill the bastard”

As the man walks forward with his hands up, clearly trying to surrender, the police, after everyone decides unanimously, open fire on the man. Scared, he tries to run back. Its now, when one of the cop opens fire with an SMG while the man dissapears behind a wall. He was found dead a few meters away.

Now, the news channel reports that the video is around 15 months old. WTF ? 15-months old and there has been NO enquiry into this ? The channel interviewed a certain Deputy General of Police, who said that he thinks that the video “Might be forged or morphed” :| ( Yeh, it was actually someone else, they morphed this guys face over the video. L-) )

Now, someone from the National Human Rights commission has come forward that they will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and that the cops may even charged with murder.

Oh well, what has the law come to.

So here’s fifty paise to every single cop who fired. Go buy some extra bullets and shove it up your you-know-what

So we have seen a lot of work being done to our roads in the past. Big machines are brought in, wide holes are made, the earth is dug up, shops and houses are demolished and road-side temples are brought down amongst much uproar.

I recently happened to realise that my favourite chinese joint, Uncles Kitchen was demolished to make way for a wider road near Mith Chowki, some 2-3 kilometres from where I stay. Now, although it has found a new ( temporary ) home just 100 metres away, I am pretty confident it wont do as much business here, as the old place.

Now, even if the government puts thousands of Rupees into road-widening ( and a million more into their own pockets ) it makes no sense. We have all seen, that most of the wide roads, no matter how wide they are, are only used to park vehicles, used as a bay-area for trucks or tempos, used for washing auto-rickshaws or taxis, used to sell vegetables and fruits, or used to build hutments. There are numerous roads that I have seen that have gone through all this. There is one road where an entire lane has been occupied by shanties after it was widened and in the peak traffic hours, there are kids that play outside and stage a hazard to themselves and to the motorists. Not only this, but these people put up tables or anything that they can find to block traffic so that it doesn’t come close to their house. :-w

Then there are roads which have lanes used only for the sole purpose of washing auto-rickshaws and taxis. This thing not only uses up the lane space, but also leaves the road splashed with water and oily substances. Eeekss.

Then there are the usual cases where roads are encroached upon hawkers who sell Vegetables, season fruits and other such goods.

The thing to notice here is, neither the government, the civic authrities, nor the police pay any attention to this. Nothing is done to curb this. As soon as a road is widened, it is encroached upon.

So here’s fifty paise to everyone who is responsible for this. Stop wasting the people’s money.

Is Mumbai “really” safe ?

After an incident with Dino Morea and the crew of the upcoming movie “Bhram”, as reported by Mumbai Mirror in this article Dino and the crew certainly think that Mumbai isn’t safe after all.

The crew of the movie was busy shooting on the Gorai beach, when along came 3 local goons, totally drunk, in an auto-rickshaw and started demanding “hafta” from the movie-crew. All this was happening when the crew already had 3 police members stationed there for “security” ( :| )

What is more shocking is that instead of helping the crew, the police demanded that the crew should actually pay the goons so that they could go since they were dangerous and had high influences. ( Yeah right!! Dangerous ? So you carry a rotten banana in your holster ? Or a water pistol ? :-w )

Prasad, the assaulted guyThe goons event went ahead and assaulted Prasad, the movie’s Assistant Director, when the crew refused to pay. The cops, they say, stood as mere spectators.

The director, Pawan Kaul told to the paper, “We have lodged an FIR against inspector Gave, who was on duty. He, along with other inspectors started drinking from afternoon and bullied our spot boys to serve them chicken for lunch. It is a pity that this is the kind of security that we are given. The goons have broken equipments worth Rs 20 lakh. My producer will also file a case against the cops on duty

The crew finally had to paid up to the extortionaists to get rid of them.

This incident has left Dino in a shock, and myself shocked and furious.

So here’s fifty paise to the extortionists and another fifty paise to the policemen on duty there to go buy a chicken and REAL gun.

So what they show in the films in true after all. *sigh*
