So we have seen a lot of work being done to our roads in the past. Big machines are brought in, wide holes are made, the earth is dug up, shops and houses are demolished and road-side temples are brought down amongst much uproar.
I recently happened to realise that my favourite chinese joint, Uncles Kitchen was demolished to make way for a wider road near Mith Chowki, some 2-3 kilometres from where I stay. Now, although it has found a new ( temporary ) home just 100 metres away, I am pretty confident it wont do as much business here, as the old place.
Now, even if the government puts thousands of Rupees into road-widening ( and a million more into their own pockets ) it makes no sense. We have all seen, that most of the wide roads, no matter how wide they are, are only used to park vehicles, used as a bay-area for trucks or tempos, used for washing auto-rickshaws or taxis, used to sell vegetables and fruits, or used to build hutments. There are numerous roads that I have seen that have gone through all this. There is one road where an entire lane has been occupied by shanties after it was widened and in the peak traffic hours, there are kids that play outside and stage a hazard to themselves and to the motorists. Not only this, but these people put up tables or anything that they can find to block traffic so that it doesn’t come close to their house. ![]()
Then there are roads which have lanes used only for the sole purpose of washing auto-rickshaws and taxis. This thing not only uses up the lane space, but also leaves the road splashed with water and oily substances. Eeekss.
Then there are the usual cases where roads are encroached upon hawkers who sell Vegetables, season fruits and other such goods.
The thing to notice here is, neither the government, the civic authrities, nor the police pay any attention to this. Nothing is done to curb this. As soon as a road is widened, it is encroached upon.
So here’s fifty paise to everyone who is responsible for this. Stop wasting the people’s money.
In the changing/Trial rooms of all Shoppers Stop outlets in the city.
Yes, I was at one of the shopper stop outlets today ( shopping for some formal shirts for my upcoming last-year board practicals ) when I saw Mr. Roshan.
What I saw was, Mr. Hrithik Roshan, sitting on chair, with a Remote in his hand, watching with BIG ROUND eyes. And the poster, in big bold words read, ” I’m watching you ” ![]()
The above posters are advrts of TATA Sky put up in all Shopper Stop outlets. In the Trial rooms.
So, what are they trying to convey ?
How about there’s a poster in his bathroom,Lau Prasad Yadav “watching” him?
Oh well,
Here’s Fifty Paise to the ad agency or the uncreative minds behind this. Find a better place.
Plagiarism: Its is the act of taking someone else’s creation, and passing it off as one’s own.
Now, quite frankly, how many times do we come across such cases in our very own Bollywood. It’ll probably take me a max of 2 minutes to list down atleast 10 songs that have been “inspired” from other songs. Yeah right !! ![]()
There have been many ( though they deny it ) composers who have been in the news for songs they say are original works, though there are many pages on the www that list out the truth behind this.
And who, you may ask, is the newest addition to the Wall of Shame ?
Meet Mr. Pritam Chakraborthy, better known in the industry as just “Pritam(wiki:Here)”. Haven’t heard about him ? Just goto the Wiki and read on. Here’s what the first line reads.
Pritam Chakraborty, generally known simply as Pritam, is a Bollywood copycat music director and composer.
Now, THATs what I call an Introduction.
Do scroll down to see his list of plagiarised songs.
A good friend and fellow blogger, Amit has done an extensive and quite an impressive research @ his Movie Blog “MovieTonic” .
In a multi-part series, he explores and reveals a great detail about the songs ( the copy and the original ) in the series.
Amit Says:
I really like Pritam’s Music, but did not know he was such a big Copy Cat.
I happened to have a look at the First part of this Multipart series, and I’m shocked ![]()
In this first part, he talks about the following 5 songs that were seen recently in the bollywood circuit, and did pretty well.
He’s done a great research ( @ Google and Youtube ) and has provided videos of the songs, both Original and the copy.
Great work done Amit… we’re waiting for the future parts.
And also,
Here’s fifty paise to Music composer(read: Stealer) Pritam, either to make his OWN creations, or hiding the original songs that he is “inspired” from. ( Cause I doubt he’s got a creative mind )
As reported in the March 27th issue of The Telegraph, some daily passengers beat up a priest and English teacher of the Don Bosco School here when he refused to give up his seat in a local train so that they could play cards.
Through the two-and-a-half-hour journey from Krishnagar to Sealdah on Saturday, the hooligans slapped Father Dilip Mondal, pulled his hair, abused him and ripped off his cassock.
On his way back, Fr Mondal had to be admitted to the Nadia district hospital with breathlessness and severe body ache. He was released a few hours later.
