Is Mumbai “really” safe ?
After an incident with Dino Morea and the crew of the upcoming movie “Bhram”, as reported by Mumbai Mirror in this article Dino and the crew certainly think that Mumbai isn’t safe after all.
The crew of the movie was busy shooting on the Gorai beach, when along came 3 local goons, totally drunk, in an auto-rickshaw and started demanding “hafta” from the movie-crew. All this was happening when the crew already had 3 police members stationed there for “security” (
)
What is more shocking is that instead of helping the crew, the police demanded that the crew should actually pay the goons so that they could go since they were dangerous and had high influences. ( Yeah right!! Dangerous ? So you carry a rotten banana in your holster ? Or a water pistol ?
)
The goons event went ahead and assaulted Prasad, the movie’s Assistant Director, when the crew refused to pay. The cops, they say, stood as mere spectators.
The director, Pawan Kaul told to the paper, “We have lodged an FIR against inspector Gave, who was on duty. He, along with other inspectors started drinking from afternoon and bullied our spot boys to serve them chicken for lunch. It is a pity that this is the kind of security that we are given. The goons have broken equipments worth Rs 20 lakh. My producer will also file a case against the cops on duty”
The crew finally had to paid up to the extortionaists to get rid of them.
This incident has left Dino in a shock, and myself shocked and furious.
So here’s fifty paise to the extortionists and another fifty paise to the policemen on duty there to go buy a chicken and REAL gun.
So what they show in the films in true after all. *sigh*
There’s a man in your area. He is a drug addict, is very seriously ill, has injuries to his leg, is very untidy and had a bleeding head.
What do you do ?
Well, if you ask the residents of Ambedkar Road, Shivaji Chowk in Kalyan(W), Mumbai ; you’ll probably get a shocking answer.

Hmm… so there’s this new movie that’s just released. You have heard some awesome reviews about it and you are desperate to watch it. It’s showing at a nearby Multiplex.
You take time off, gather a couple of friends and shell out Rs. 150 plus for each ticket. You go in, buy some pocorn expecting a nice movie experience..
The movie reaches its climax, when all of a sudden.. BLEEEMP.. The lights go out.. The theatre just lost power.
Yea, thats what happened in a local theatre turned multiplex in Mumbai on a sunday night. Around 300 movie-lovers became restless aftr the power wasn’t restored for a long time. The multiplex was pitch dark inside ( obviously ) but the thing is, the ushers and the staff didn’t even have torch lights. (
) Although the multiplex had a backup generator, it was non-functional..
Now, one of the movie-buff called the Police control room and the Vile Parle Police soon reached there ( So un-filmy na :> ) Well, as soon as they reached, they pulled out their secret weapons and then there was light
Well, kinda… They urged their patrons to use their respective mobile phones and find a way out by formaing a human chain.
The Police then arrested the security supervisor Arvind Narottamdas Tatagar, 45, and watchman Sunil Shardaprasad Sharma, for negligence (under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code). The duo was produced in a local court on Monday and released on bail.
So here’s fifty paise to the suncity management to get their backup generator up and working.
07th of Jan, 2007. That was the last day I logged into my Blog’s Admin Panel. Maybe because I was too busy with Technofest and My Life , maybe I was too busy excited that AcchaBlog turned Google PageRank 3 or maybe that I wasn’t too bothered ( Yeh, someone give me 50p too. )
Anyways, it was yesterday that I just noticed that FiftyPaise too had turned PageRank 3 Blog. Yayyy. (
)
Hence, I have decided to pay attention to FiftyPaise too. I have already changed the theme to this, a stylish new “GlossyBlue” theme with a little web 2.0 look.
I hope you’ll like it.
Till Next time…
